Banking and Management Review (BMR) - Journal History
1. Journal Overview
The Banking and Management Review (BMR) is a scientific journal published by the Management Study Program at STIE Ekuitas since 2012. This journal aims to publish high-quality research in the fields of Financial Management, Marketing Management, Operations Management, Human Resource Management, Conventional Banking, and Sharia Banking.

In 2015, the journal obtained its Print ISSN (2252-8520) and was initially published online via the STIE Ekuitas repository until 2018. Since 2019, BMR has been managed using the Open Journal System (OJS) and was indexed in Google Scholar by 2020. In 2022, the journal acquired its E-ISSN (2828-4313), marking the full transition to electronic publishing.

2. Publication Frequency and Operational Challenges
The journal is published twice a year, in May and November. However, in 2023, the journal experienced a gap in management for one year, resulting in delays in publication for that period.

3. Management Transition
In 2024, based on a decree from the Chairperson of STIE Ekuitas, Banking and Management Review (BMR) officially came under the management of the Scientific Publications Unit  (Lembaga Publikasi Ilmiah), replacing its previous management by the Management Study Program. This transition aims to enhance the efficiency and quality of journal management. The process of updating management data with the ISSN authority has been initiated and is currently in the queue for processing.

4. Improvement Initiatives
Following the management transition, several improvement initiatives have been implemented to enhance the journal’s quality, including:

  • Establishment of a New Editorial Team: A new team has been formed to ensure the continuity of publication and quality enhancement.
  • Editorial Training: Training sessions have been provided to the editorial team to improve competency in OJS-based journal management.
  • Revision of Editorial Guidelines: Writing and editorial process guidelines have been revised to align with international standards.
  • Template and Abstract Enhancement: The journal template has been updated to use English, and the abstract format has been revised to be more detailed and structured.
  • Adoption of Reference Management Tools: Tools such as Mendeley have been integrated to improve citation accuracy and consistency.
  • Inclusion of Editorial History: Starting in 2024, the journal template includes an editorial history section to enhance transparency and credibility.
  • These improvements have significantly contributed to the journal’s development. In the same year, the journal was indexed in GARUDA and is currently undergoing the submission process for SINTA accreditation and DOAJ indexing.

5. Commitment to Sustainability
The Banking and Management Review (BMR) is committed to continuously improving the quality of its publications and maintaining consistent publication frequency. With institutional support and enhanced management systems, the journal is optimistic about achieving broader national accreditation and international indexing.
